ESSCT002: Yangon – Kyaikhtiyoe – Bago – Yangon Enquire this trip!

Day 1.Arrival Yangon


Upon arrival in Yangon, your ESS guide will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.  Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is a relatively quiet and charming city. It is the great starting point of the Myanmar Holiday. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes Yangon one of the most fascinating and religious landmarks.

Lunch at local restaurant (Own Account).

This afternoon, your tour begins with around the city, walking by graceful colonial buildings and observing the lifestyle of the local people. Proceed Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda to visit the 70m long reclining Buddha. At the end of today, we reach Myanmar’s holiest monument, the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda with its golden stupa that is covered with 60 tons of pure gold leaf.  At sunset, Shwedagon offers visitor a spectacular shows of light.

Day 2: Yangon – Kyaikhtiyoe (Golden Rock)

Depart from Yangon by morning and drive to Bago, the capital of the 16th century Mon kingdom.  Lunch at local restaurant with own account.

This afternoon, arrive at Kyaikhtiyo base camp. Travel by local, open-air truck along a winding road (about 45 minutes) and the reach the Golden Rock.  A huge boulder covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff, Golden Rock is one of Myanmar’s main pilgrimage sites.  The pagoda here is said to hold a hair of the Buddha and Buddhist from across the country come here to pay homage. Dinner at local restaurant (own account).

Day 3: Kyaikhtiyoe – Bago- Yangon

After Breakfast at Hotel and return down to base camp by the same route on foot or by open-air truck.

On the way back to Yangon, visit in Bago begins at Shwethalyaung Temple which houses a beautiful 55-meter long reclining Buddha.  Continue to the Mon-style Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most venerated in Myanmar and whose 114 meter spire is taller than the one at Shwedagon Pagoda. Lunch at local restaurant (own account).

Option :While in Bago we’ll also take time to visit Snake Monastery.

The drive takes approximately seven hours and we will arrive in the city late this afternoon. Arrival Yangon, make your own times.     Overnight in Yangon.

Day 4: Departure from Yangon

After Breakfast at Hotel, visit to Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) market, a shopping center of Yangon.   Then transfer to Yangon International airport and fly back to own country.
